Cottrell & Vermeulen Architecture is an award winning RIBA Chartered Practice with more than two decades of design experience.

We have worked with many different clients, from small community groups through to central government. Our portfolio includes the design of educational facilities, community centres, residential schemes and projects for museums, churches and galleries, and our expertise encompasses refurbishments, new build projects, landscape design and masterplanning. We also have experience working with historic and important buildings including Grade I listed properties and Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

Regardless of the scale of our projects, our work is characterised by an extensive collaboration process through workshops and consultations with both clients and users. Using an investigative approach and an open mind, our resulting work provides individual, provocative, inspiring and practical responses to clients’ ambitions and surrounding contexts.

The practice maintains a particular interest in sustainable design, and improving the environmental performance of buildings is always at the forefront of our developments. All of our projects have the highest sustainable ambition, designing longevity, adaptability and robustness into the building fabric. Additionally, we consider the construction and future deconstruction process along with the use and maintenance of a building throughout its lifetime.

Our office has a shallow hierarchy, and directors have a hands-on role in all projects. Low staff turnover ensures that our work benefits from continuity and accumulated practice experience.

We welcome any enquiries and are always open to discussing a potential project. Please contact us if you have something in mind.
