Chris started with us at Cottrell & Vermeulen in 2012 when he was a student at London Metropolitan University, studying in Cottrell & Vermeulen’s design studio. His work focused on the redevelopment plans for the Heygate Estate and he has continued to be engaged with the regeneration of the area and the impacts on local communities.
Chris completed his undergraduate degree at Newcastle University with distinction and was invited to work on competition projects at EC architecture. Here, he explored how small-scale intervention could address urban issues across a neighbourhood in Parma Italy. He also worked for Ushida Findlay Architects on a variety of competitions and projects including an extension to York Art Gallery and an onsite project at the Olympic Park.
At Cottrell & Vermeulen Chris has worked on a wide range of projects within the office and has gained experience across various scales – from strategic planning to detailed design and working on projects onsite. Chris has developed his technical knowledge of housing projects working on both North West Cambridge Housing Development and a multi- residential housing project in south London.
His interest in interiors, joinery and detailing have been valuable during the construction of Streatham and Clapham High School which is set for completion 2017.
